Under the weather!

You know something is wrong with Lucas when he is putting his head on your shoulder and cuddling with you. At first we thought it was teething, when Lucas was whinning, sleepy, has a fever, and is lethagic. Craig thought I was trying to use my child as an excuse to get out of my talk on Sunday. Alas, after a visit to the doctor, because I was not convinced that this was just teething, Lucas has a virus. I have to admit it is nice to know I was not a paranoid mother, I was right, but unfortunately there is nothing they can do, so were hoping Lucas can sleep it off. Everything is fine and I am sure Lucas will be back to his happy and active self soon. Though the doctor did make a comment, that even though he is not feeling good, he still appears to be happy and talkative. Though Lucas is not feeling well in these pictures, I still took them because how cute is that, Lucas snuggling up with his dad.

Where do Waffles go?

Lucas' answer.....on my head! Last Friday we were in a hurry, and I didn't want to take the time to cook a nice meal, so we had waffles and eggs! Lucas didn't really love the eggs, but loved the waffles. Most of them ended up in his mouth, except for this piece, I don't know exactly how it got there, but there it is, a piece of waffle on my child's head!

Dancing!

Whenever Lucas hears music he will start to sway back and forth it is pretty cute, he has been doing it for a while, since he was little. I have wanted to get it recorded, for prosperity. Here are some recordings of Lucas grooving to children's songs, though Craig had him swaying the other day to Chicago. The other video is Lucas dancing with his friend Cooper, which I had to record because I thought it was supper cute!

Easter Package!

Grandma Les, Grandpa Steve, and Aunt Kenzie, sent us a package. Lucas loves digging in the box and grabbing everything he can. His favorite thing was the wrapped candy, which he kept sticking in his mouth, fortunately he didn't realize that what was in the wrapper would have been much more tasty! The big duck was really cute and very soft. Lucas enjoyed sticking the beak part in his mouth.

More teeth!

Lucas is getting two more teeth. Last Monday, the 22nd of March, the upper left tooth had broken through and you could feel the bottom left working it way through. I thought he may be getting another tooth on the top right, but am not sure about that one yet. So that makes a grand total of six teeth!

Update on the upgrade

Yeah! We put Lucas' upgraded carseat in the car last night and he seemed to be okay with it. At least better than he was when we put him in it when it was sitting in our living room. Car rides for Lucas will be much more comfortable. This carseat reminds me of a Lazy Boy recliner! It has a lot of cushion, and comes with pads that provide more cushion, the pattern even reminds me of something you could see on a Lazy Boy recliner. Lucas is riding in style!

Spring!

Craig decided a couple weeks agowe would be having a barbecue on the first day of spring, come rain, snow, or sunshine! The first day of spring was Saturday, and thankfully it was a beautiful day. Lucas enjoyed being outside! Because it was the first day of spring, I thought it would be fun to have his picture taken outside, this was difficult, to say the least, because there was just too much to see and touch. Even when we tried to take a picture inside, he wanted to go outside. Here is the best picture that we had of Lucas outside.
Side note: it was also the day that BYU played and I was informed that our child had to wear something BYU, thanks to Lucas' grandma and grandpa he had something to wear!

Playing at the Park

Friday we went to the park with some friends. Lucas loved it! He ate some dirt and some sand, played with the wood chips and tried to eat those! We put him in the swing, which he was a little unsure about. He went down the slide and seemed to enjoy that. He wasn't too interest in playing with his friends, unless it involved trying to tip over their bucket full of sand and steal their shovels, even though he had a shovel of his own. In the process of going to the park, we discovered that Lucas needs a new hat, his is too small for his head, though it is a 12 month hat. What can you expect when your sons head is off the charts!

St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Lucas had his first traditional St. Patrick's Day feast and loved it! The corned-beef was his favorite, there wasn't any left on his tray or in his high chair. He also enjoy some potatoes, cabbage, and Irish Soda Bread. He liked the bread too, but that makes sense because Lucas likes bread, period.
Lucas didn't wear the festive headband all day, but the thirty seconds that he did wear it, he didn't immediately trying taking it off (that happened at about thirty-one seconds).

Clapping!

Lucas has started clapping, though I don't think he knows that is what he is doing. When he gets really excited he will babble and start to clap, it is pretty cute! I have been teaching him patty cake, we have been doing a lot of patty cake!

Upgrade!

Thanks to some wonderful friends/neighbors, we have a car seat for Lucas, he has outgrown his previous car seat/carrier. We put him in it the other day and as you can tell from the picture, he loves it! (sarcasm). Right now it is sitting in our living room, but soon Craig will get it in the car and it will be a definite improvement.

Unloading the Dishwasher!

Lucas had been helping me unload the dishwasher, he is really helpful. I have definitely become more efficient and quicker at unloading the dishes when Lucas is helping. Efficient because I know to unload the knifes and forks first, then everything on the lower level, and quick because the quicker I am the less I have to rewash. He is super cute when he is helping; he talks, babbles, and bangs the silverware, and he makes sure that the silverware is extra clean (sticks it in his mouth).

Sneaky little boy!

Today I was letting Lucas wander around and play, while I cleaned up the breakfast mess and did some dishes. I could hear him talking away, and then a few moments later, I could no longer hear him. My first thought was, "my child has once again climbed the stairs and is upstairs wandering around", so I went for the stairs. When I turned the corner before heading up the stairs there was Lucas, munching on two pretzel rods, one for each hand. He had got into the diaper bag, and got to the bag of pretzels. The bag must have been opened, because I don't think he has acquired that skill yet. So besides breakfast, Lucas also had an after breakfast snack of two pretzel rods.

Spring Break!

Craig had a whole week off from school, but still had research and work that needed to be done, since he had been playing in Hawaii the week before, so we were not able to do much, but did do some playing. We went on a little family outing to Hershey. Lucas had his nine month pictures taken. For the first time since we have been getting his pictures taken, he actually smiled and looked at the camera, he was quite charming. Next we went over to the Hershey outlets, to get clothes for Lucas for next fall and winter. We had time to spare, so we went over to Hershey's chocolate world where we took Lucas on the ride with the talking cows, that explain how Hershey's chocolate is made. Lucas loved this, the ride has flashing lights and moving objects, and as previously mentioned cows that talk and sing. It was a wonderful day that was completely dedicated to Lucas.
Lucas had his first Thanksgiving dinner in March. We bought a turkey in November and needed to cook it, to make room in our freezer for Corn-beef and Ham. Lucas really enjoyed this, he had Turkey, mashed potatoes, and green beans.
To end our Spring Break we were going to head to the Washington Temple with the youth in our stake, however, it was raining and raining, and yes while I am typing this it is still raining, that is Pennsylvania for you, with spring and summer comes rain, rain, and more rain. Anyway, we thought that it wouldn't be very pleasant for Lucas, so Craig went and Lucas and I stayed home. I ended up taking Lucas to the library to pick up a book, and we ended up getting some books for Lucas. I put him down and let him wander around, in the play area they had, and he loved it, he played with the trains, the magnet letters, and watched the kids. He had a blast and we will definitely be going back.

Lucas Growing

Here are a couple videos of Lucas doing it all, crawling, pulling himself up, and babbling. He's getting so much bigger (and still stinkin' cute!)

The Ophthalmologist

On the 22nd of February we went on a family outing to Danville. Danville is where the main Geisinger Medical Facility is located. It is about an hour and half from State College. Lucas had an appointment with the Ophthalmologist, Tom Wilson. He was highly recommended by our pediatrition. Lucas has had blocked tears ducts since he was born. It doesn't cause any damage, but he always had these booger eyes, and sometimes when he woke up his eyes were glued shut. Since making the appointment one of his eyes had improved, but his left eye was still blocked, though it seemed to have also improved. Anyway, we went to the Ophthalmologist, he told us that they can do surgery, but they would like Lucas to wait till he was at least a year old. He also told us that we could massage the duct and see if that would unclog it. He demonstrated on Craig how to massage, and then he did it to Lucas. After doing this the doctor said, that he heard a pop and thought that he might have unblocked it. We have not had any more problems with his eyes since, and they are now clean and clear. Now you can see Lucas big, beautiful brown eyes!

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day Lucas wore a shirt given to him by his grandma, that said, "Love Monkey". We also received a package in the mail and he was so interested in what was in the box that he just about fell into the box. Craig and I also gave him a book called, "Hugs, Hugs", he of course was more interested in eating the book rather than looking at it.

Uh-Oh!

Lucas is climbing the stairs, like a mad man! Every chance he gets he heads for the stairs. He will stand at the bottom of the stairs wait for you to look at him and then he smiles, his mischievous smile and starts to go up the stairs. Unfortunately he does not know how to go down the stairs, were still working on it.

Standing

Lucas is now pulling himself up, with the assistance of furniture and anything else he can use, and standing. He loves to crawl under the kitchen table and stand against the kitchen chairs. The other day he was under the table, standing against the kitchen chair, he noticed a cheerio left on the floor and he was trying to reach for it, but wasn't wanting to let go of the chair. He looked pretty funny, as he was trying to do both at the same time. I went for the camera, but when I got back, Lucas was crawling away and the cheerio was gone.

The Box!

After Christmas, Lucas now had toys lots and lots of toys. Toys that made noises and moved. What was Lucas favorite toy? A folded up cardboard box, he would crawl into the office, play and eat the box, it would keep him entertained for several minutes!

Snow!!!

When we left State College for Christmas there was no snow....when Craig got back, still no snow...when Lucas and I got back no snow. That all changed the first week of February when it snowed, and boy did it really snow. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not a big fan of winter. I didn't really mind that we hadn't seen much snow since we have been here. By this time I was ready for Spring not Winter. However, this did give us an opportunity to put Lucas in his snowsuit and let him experience his first winter, with snow. He looked like a big marshmallow! And as you will see from the pictures he decided to take a noise dive into the snow, and quickly realized this was not fun. His cheek got cold and wet.

Lucas and his cousins

Lucas enjoyed hanging with his cousins, if you can call stealing Elise's toys and attacking Eevee as hanging out. He did have lots of fun with them and it was fun to watch them interact with each other.

Christmas Vacation

While we were in Utah Lucas hit several developmental milestones. Three more teeth came in, so it is officially dangerous to put you fingers in his mouth, or as I unfortunately found out let him get near any of your fingers or in my case toes. Lucas also started to crawl, at first it was more of a scoot, with him moving the hands and then booth legs at the same time, but by the time we left Utah he had it down! Lucas has also started pulling himself up onto objects.

Christmas

For Christmas we went home to Utah. This was Lucas first Christmas and we weren't sure how he would react with the presents and all of the people. We thought he would be more interested in eating the wrapping paper, then the actually gift. Though at times, this was the case, he was interested and even helped rip the wrapping paper from the presents.

Updating

Craig has taught me how to blog, I know it is about time. Hopefully we can keep you better informed on Lucas his growth and development and of course all of the funny things he does.
