Pots and Pans!

Lucas has been having a ton of fun cooking with me! That is to say he likes getting into the cupboard where the pots of pans are and dragging them out, banging them together, and putting his letter magnets in them. The other day I couldn't find his water cup, I looked everywhere. Later that day I opened the cupboard and there it was. He has also started climbing into the cupboard, I don't know why, probably just because he can.

Grange Fair

This week was the Grange Fair. The Grange Fair is a very unique and very big fair that goes on every year. Everything revolves around this fair when it is going on, they even delay the start of the school year for the Grange Fair. There are miles of RVs and these old green army like tents set up that people live in for the week. There is a very, very long waiting list to get a tent spot, it is usually pasted on from generation to generation. It is a pretty crazy event.

Lucas and I went when they were having kids day, and I wanted Lucas to see the animals. We had a ton of fun!!! Lucas did not like Winnie the Pooh, the lady taking the picture told me he was the first kid to cry, but I am sure he was not the last.

They also put together this huge ice-cream sundae, it looked disgusting, they dumped tubs of chocolate syrup, maraschino cherries, and pineapple over this mound of ice cream, but it still tasted yummy!

They had a balloon man. It was pretty impressive the things he made out of balloons! Though Lucas was not interested and pretty much wandered around the entire time! We also were looking forward to seeing Buford the bear, but he had car trouble and didn't make it, so we went back the next day to see him and he was there but they were delayed in getting set up, so we never did see that darn old bear, I guess it just wasn't meant to be. We did get to see several animals, ducks, roosters, sheep, goats, pigs, and cows! Lucas loved this, at one point he was baa baa-ing like a sheep and then mooing! Cute!

Little League World Series!

We are not far from where the Little League World Series takes place. Last Saturday it was going on, so we thought we would go watch and see what it was all about. Wow it is a huge event, I had no idea. There were 25,000 people there! We sat on this pretty steep hill and watched the game going on below. It was Taiwan against Japan. Japan won, though we weren't there to witness the end, we had to leave early. The Goodyear Blimp was there making rounds above the stadium. It was a lot of fun!

Another Word!

Lucas and I have been walking in the morning. During our walks we usually see a couple of people walking their dogs. The day after Lucas said "water", we were on our walk and he pointed at a dog and said, "dog". It was pretty awesome! I definitely had a proud parent moment.

Water!

Add water to the words that Lucas knows! Every Friday we go to a playgroup, they usually go to a different park every Friday or some other fun activity. Today we went to this park that has a river, sandbox, and playground. Lucas spent most of the time roaming around and doing is own thing, he would not stay in one spot for more than a second, though the sandbox and slide did keep his attention for a little while. Lucas eventually discovered the river, I was able to catch him a few times before he got to it, but he kept going back and at one point I didn't get to him before he reached the edge of the water (when I say river, I mean it is a river that doesn't really have a currant, is shallow, and Lucas can wade his feet in it without get really wet, so maybe it is more like a stream). When I came up to him he kept saying, "water, water, water, water" clear as day, it was really, stinkin cute, and after that can you really pull him away, no, so Lucas spent some time wading in the water and picking up the rocks that were in the water. Here is a picture of Lucas eating his lunch on one of the park benches. Peanut-butter and jelly sandwhich yummy!

The Slide

Lucas can go down the slide by himself and he loves it! We have a playground by our house, we usually make a trip to the park on a daily basis. For the past several days we have been working on going down the slide and the other day Lucas climb the stairs, sat down and went for it; he had this look of fear with excitement all at once, and it must have been pretty fun, because he was eager to go again. He is getting pretty good at it, the other day he practically flew down the slide landing on the ground at the bottom. I have been trying to get a video of him doing this, but it is turning out to be more difficult than I thought it was going to be, hopefully I can get it figure out and post a video of him going down the slide.

Let the Canning begin!

With supervision, from a friend, I have been learning how to can. Last year we canned pears and applesauce! This year I canned my first jar of tomatoes. That is right literally one jar of tomatoes. We have a garden, the other day Craig brought in a bunch of tomatoes, I had no idea what to do with those tomatoes, and I didn't want them to go to waste. My friend wanted to can peaches, so on the day she canned peaches, we canned the tomatoes. We were able to get two jars, but one did not survive, so we ended up with one beautiful jar of tomatoes.
